Mohammad H. Gharavi, M.D.

Physician

Pain Care of Clearwater in Clearwater, FL

Atlantis Pain Care in Melbourne, FL

Mohammad H. Gharavi, M.D., a diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management since 2003, has been caring for pain patients for over 30 years. He earned his bachelor of science degree in physical therapy from the School of Rehabilitation and Social Welfare in Tehran, Iran, in 1978. He obtained his specialty with a master of medical science (MMSc) degree in orthopedic physical therapy in 1990 from Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. After extensive work experience, he entered medical school and obtained his M.D. degree in 1998 from St. George's University School of Medicine. He conducted his residency program in general surgery at Howard University Hospital in Washington, DC.

Early in his career, Dr. Gharavi designed and helped develop the Point Finder & Stimulator, a medical device that can locate and treat pain areas on the body surface using micro-current electrical pulses. This device has been used in a variety of different medical fields, including electro-acupuncture, to alleviate pain in complicated cases, which had been considered untreatable prior to this device.

Dr. Gharavi's concern and passion for his community's health and well-being led him to co-found Ibn Sina Health Foundation of North America in 1997 in the state of Maryland. A non-profit medical organization, Ibn Sina aims to assist uninsured and/or indigent patients and to promote general medical knowledge to foster a healthier community.

Dr. Gharavi has also developed special conservative (non-surgical) techniques to avoid surgery in those patients who suffer from neck, back and/or knee pain and are either reluctant to undergo surgery for their problem or are not surgery candidates. Hundreds of patients with disc bulge or herniation have been treated by his physiological approach without the need for invasive procedures.

He is a strong advocate of rehabilitation and physical activities instead of sticking to medications alone. Dr. Gharavi believes the correct medical approach is not to treat pain symptomatically but to find and treat the cause of pain.
